Riga’s Lilac at the European Short Pitch 2017

The winner of “Baltic Pitching Forum” 2016, short animation project  “Riga’s Lilac” (Latvia), is participating at the European co-production forum “European Short Pitch”. Director Lizete Upite will be pitching her project at the second part of the forum on 23- 26th of March 2017 in Poznan, Poland as part ofthe Poznan Industry Days in the context of the Short Waves Festival in partnership with Ad Arte.

The first part – scriptwriting workshop – took place on 9 – 15th of January 2017  in Valleta, Malta. 16 projects with the support of 4 tutors had the chance to work intensively on their projects, also giving feedback on other participants’ projects, alternating collective and group sessions, one-to-one sessions with the tutor, and a lecture on an initiation to pitching. The aim of this first session is to enhance the quality of the script and to prepare participants to promote their projects in an international context.

At the second part of the “European Short Pitch” participants will have one day to prepare and rehearse their pitching with their tutors. The pitching, in the presence of invited professionals, will take place on the 25th of March, each project having 7 minutes – questions included. One-to-one meetings (20 minutes long) with professionals will start in the afternoon of the 25th, and will continue the morning after. On the evening of the 25th an award ceremony will take place, with three prizes of 1 000 Euros each for the Best Pitches (based on the votes of invited professionals) handed out by representatives of the City of Poznan. The aim of this third session is to create a platform of promotion for the projects selected, to encourage encounters and collaborations between film professionals and to initiate short film coproductions.
