The third season of Baltic Women in Film Mentorship calls for applications

The mentorship program “Baltic Women in Film Mentorship” is continuing its successful journey and returns for a third season. The upcoming 2023–2024 season of the program welcomes women under the age of 30 from Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, who want to boost their career paths in various fields within the film or TV industries. 15 candidates will be selected. The call is open until 21st of August 2023.

The program aims to grow the audiovisual sector in the Baltic region

The on-going mentoring program proves the need to develop new talents and promote gender equality within the audiovisual sector. The core of this mentorship program is to build an effective contacts-exchange and matchmaking marketplace where women, working in the Baltic audiovisual industry, would have an opportunity to be mentored by industry experts and encouraged to develop their professional skills, competences and create new audiovisual projects. The mentoring program is open to women under the age of 30 from the Baltic countries: Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia. 15 participants will be selected for the third season of “Baltic Women in Film Mentorship” program. The main selection criterion is motivation, alongside, goals of the applicant and their professional growth potential.

The second season has fostered new talents

The second season of “Baltic Women in Film Mentorship” concluded this spring. It successfully carried on the activities of the first season and encouraged young women on their career paths. The participants of the second season had an opportunity to learn and receive support from the industry professionals, while also deepening their professional skills or developing new projects. A large number of program participants have successfully completed their projects, applied for project financing or started new co-production initiatives. An international group of mentors was assembled: producers Marianne Ostrat (Estonia), Alise Rogule (Latvia) and Gabija Siurbytė (Lithuania), screenwriter Birutė Kapustinskaitė (Lithuania), film director Lina Lužytė (Lithuania), cinematographer Elen Lotman (Estonia), film critic Dmitrij Gluščevskij (Lithuania) and others. 

The variety of international activities

Over the course of seven months (October 2023 – April 2024) the participants will be involved in coaching sessions with their mentors, alongside webinars and creative workshops on mental health, leadership, self-promotion and similar themes. They will also get an opportunity to network at industry events of Meeting Point Vilnius, Riga International Film Festival, Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival and Vilnius International Short Film Festival.

The mentorship program is organized by Lithuanian short film agency “Lithuanian Shorts” and “Women in Film & Television Lithuania” association, in partnership with Riga International Film Festival (Latvia), Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival (Estonia), “Meeting Point – Vilnius” (Lithuania), and the European Women Audiovisual Network (EWA, Belgium). The funding was granted by the Nordic cultural institute “Nordic Culture Point”, the Nordic-Baltic Mobility Programme for Culture.
