BPF x Drama ISFF: Greek short film screening

In celebration of Greece being the guest country, the 11th edition of the Baltic Pitching Forum together with the Drama International Short Film Festival invites to the special screening “The Drama Festival is Travelling to BPF: Greek Highlights from 2020-2022”, a short film programme of lauded short films from Greece.  

 

The screening will take place at the National Gallery of Art on 13 October at 18:30 PM. 

The event is open to everyone and free of charge.

A Summer Place

Director Alexandra Matheou

Summer is a permanent state of mind in Limassol, a once small seaside town in Cyprus that has transformed into the oligarch paradise of the Mediterranean. Being both a player and a victim of this city’s transformation as a food stylist, Tina is depressed. On the day of her birthday, she is ready to give up on everything, until an extraordinary encounter changes her life.

 

Alexandra Matheo is a Cypriot screenwriter, director and producer based in London, Cyprus and Athens. She holds a Law LLB and an LLM from King’s College London and an MA in Film Studies from University DISFF2 College London (UCL). Her short films have screened internationally and she is an alumni of Talents Sarajevo 2018. She has previously worked for The Discovery Channel in London and is now Head ofDevelopment at the Athens based production company Topcut-Modiano. In 2019, Alexandra was invited to join the Euro-Connection forum at the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival with her upcoming short film A Summer Place (currently in post-production).

From The Balcony

Director Aris Kaplanidis

A middle aged lady observes the world of an Athenian neighborhood from her balcony with mixed reactions from those she constantly watches. Until she is no longer there and that world changes forever.

 

Aris Kaplandis studied animation at the Orneraki School. With his short film Porn he won a scholarship at the Stavrakos School. In 2017 he was awarded the 1st Pitching Award of the Drama International Short Film Festival for the film From the Balcony. Together with the co-creator Elias Roumeliotis he founded Brosinarts Animation Studios and now deals exclusively with fiction animation.

A father has kidnapped his daughter. Running out of money, they are on a road trip, trying to go as far as possible.


Alexandros Skouras was born in 1981. He studied Economics and Philosophy, but he works as a screenwriter and a director.

Michalis has barely 24 hours to redefine his life and make up for his close ones. That same night he meets a girl. He only wishes that the morning never comes.

 

Amerissa Basta lives in Athens and works in communications and in the publication industry. She has studied Communication and Mass Media and holds an MA in Cultural Management (Panteion University, Athens). Currently she is taking an MA on Creative Writing and Screenwriting (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki). She has directed 7 short films. Her first feature film is in the pre-production stage.
